I was very surprised that my female Japanese quail went broody and went on to hatch and look after 7 babies, although one of the chicks got badly injured so I hand raised her. They have all grown up and live with someone else now although I still have the tame one as she loves human company and thinks she is a person rather than a quail xD

I suppose their size is hard to tell with photographs.

I'm still amazed at the different colour variations between the chicks.

Awwwww, her beak looks like it's been speeded up! And she looks like she's taking a dirt bath on the blanket! That's so precious!

I want quail now!

Yeah she loves trying to dustbathe on anything soft and likes to sit on my laptop watching videos They are really easy to tame if you have them from chicks, They are an ideal pet really like a chicken you can keep indoors xD

Yeah, I don't know if I can talk my mom into it though, maybe next spring
