I have hatched baby quails and they are four days old. They poop so much that I am getting concerned that my daughter handling them is not sanitary. Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions about this?

Thank you

You know you could get salmonella from chicken poop right?
I assume that is why they are asking. I am just not sure what super cool info we can give them that doesn't sound patronizing. The answer is "keep things clean and wash your hands. Don't let the daughter eat the poop". Not much more to it!

it's not always right to be PC sometimes you have to be blunt so people know what's about to happen... when I have kids come to my house and they want to touch my ducks or chickens I just say no. In my opinion peting or hanging out with a duck or chicken is not worth salmonella for a child. their immune system is just not strong. And kids are also kids and fingers will go in mouths!

But that's just my rules I'm sure other people have different rules and at the end of the day it's your quail your kids you can do whatever you want!
