Baby silkie vent problem

My baby silkie (Honey Bun) keeps pooping on herself! I’m worried! Will it cause infection because it’s drying and it hurts her to get it off! I don’t want to give her a bath she gets really cold easily! Please help she is 5 days old!

Take a paper towel, & a container full of warm water. Wet the paper towel with warm water, & gently wash her butt. You can blow dry her, or put her directly under the heat lamp to dry after her pasty butt has been cleaned.

I did what you said. She wasn’t happy. I think she is having trouble pooping. She try’s but she can’t get it all out so it goes on her fluff. Is there any possibility she will ....

Is your chick eating/drinking o.k.?
How warm is your brooder?
Is she by herself or do you have other chicks?

It does sound like pasty butt. I would continue to carefully clean off the vent, if the poop is hardened, work it off slowly so you don't damage the tissue. You can also put a small dab of vaseline or coconut oil on the vent to soothe and help keep the poop from sticking so bad.

Overheating or even being too cold can cause pasty butt. I would see that she's drinking well too. Is she acting like she's constipated?

I looked up pasty butt and got the poop off. She is with another chick. A naked neck Nugget, they love each other. I got all the poop off and she is pooping regularly again! Thank you for all your help. I heard it was fatal so I acted fast. Thanks again
