I have three one month old Eastern Wild Turkeys (mix), Yesterday one got real weak and acted like it couldn't stand at all, no visible leg or wing breaks, just acts very weak, and today I went in to check on them and one was lying on its back, flopping all around, it couldn't get up, when we got it up it couldn't stand, had no balance, just fell over and flapped all around, kicking its legs all around, and its head and neck were just twisting all around and going from side to side. What does this sound like, what do you think is the problem. I put all the turkeys and chicks on antibiotics today as well just in case they had something infectious. Please help me. Just desperately need any kind of help. Thanks in advance.

A couple of years ago we had one adult female that did has similar problem, after she passed we traced the problem to parasites that where brought in through a bale of hay we bought at a local farm store. We dusted all the pens after that none of the other turkeys or chickens had any simular problems. But it can be any number of things.

Antibotics is the best first choice, then maybe a good cleaning and dusting of the pens. With out any test to tell exactly what it is, anything we suggest is just a guess.

Do you have chickens? It could be blackhead (which it could be even if you don't have chickens). A few of mine got pretty listless and depressed looking, and I lost one. I got some Metronidazole from my vet, but you can buy a product called Fish-Zole which is metronidazole sold in pet stores to treat fish. I gave them the metro for 8 days and they cleared right up and haven't had an issue since. It might be worth it to try that, because I don't think the metro would hurt them if it's not blackhead.

Thanks for your responses, they are both stabalized right now , but it was a long night, thanks for all your help
