I have 11 roosters that are currently 9 weeks old. They are part of a group of chicks I introduced to my 5 original (1 year old) hens. I plan on butchering 9 of them for sure but am unsure about the other 2. I was going to move the extra boys into a dog kennel until such time as they are big enough to butcher.
My question is about the two that are "maybe" going. I am thinking it will be easier to leave them in with the group and then pull them if I decide not to keep them rather then reintroducing them? The only reason I was thinking of sepearting them is because I have heard that mature hens can be very mean to a "teenage" rooster. However, I wonder if that only applies to a newly introduced adolescent?
