Hi all!
After a 4 year hiatus from chickens, we're back at it! I had 6 chickens in Florida, but then we moved to Iowa. Now that we're settled in (yes 4 years later), we thought it was time to do the chickens again. We have 13 this time around...anticipate a few Roos that will need to be culled. Hoping for a flock of 6-8 this time around. Right now we have 3 white silkies, 3 RIR, 2 golden comets, 2 ISA browns, and 3 black australorps. All but the RIR are new breeds to us. In Florida I had RIR, Bahma, and Jersey Giants.
We converted my son's old swingset/play fort into the coop and run and already have plans to expand on it. It's much better than what I had in Florida - Fort Pallet the Cheep Keep. But, because of chicken math, we're already thinking of ways to expand it...as soon as "school is out" we'll get on building the addition.
