Hi there people!

I'm back, I have chickens once more (9 silkies and their jap bantam 'mother') and some spare time to sit at the PC (generally while taking a break from the everpresent spectre of studying)

Just got back from a couple of weeks on a fundraising trip in Africa (raised just over £2500 which was well above target, yay) and currently trying to decide whether to spend 5 months studying in South Dakota, 6 months studying in Colarado or 12 months working .. umm.. somewhere...

times running out and my options are, well, currently not entirely clear!

Next year all things going to plan I should be moving up to Scotland, though I'll still be studying in England I'll be slowly moving all my stuff up to the West coast where my partner is starting up a business.

Hi Kitsune,

Didn't you stay on a wolf preserve for awhile? I remember those awesome pics.
Isn't it nice to have chickens again?

There's nothing like a mama hen & her babies.
Hope your school stuff is going okay for ya.What are you studying?
So nice to see ya around, please come back when ya can.

Kitsune! I'm happy to hear from you!

Oh man, I am sooo jealous! How is it you get to travel so much? I would love to travel and I'm thinking of doing a semester abroad, since my scholarship would cover it. I'm thinking maybe Scotland, but there are soo many choices!

P.S. I hear Colorado is awesome! That's somewhere I've always wanted to visit.

Been a long time since I've seen you around. Was starting to think that a wolf got ya. Good to hear you got chooks again, & are busy with working on your future. All the best, & don't be a stranger.

It is really good to be back, nice to see some familiar names still around too - yes I did work with wolves and if I do the colarado thing that's what I'd be doing there - not sure if it will work out though.

I'm studying wildlife ecology and behaviour though I am leaning more towards physiology and behaviour and I think that's the direction I'll go in for my Masters/PHd - never thought physiology would be my direction but I've certainly got on better with that subject than any other.

It is really good to have chickens again, we started off with a couple of pekins a seabright and the jap bantam but when both the pekins died and the seabright was taken by a cat we were left with just the jap - we took a trip to a rare breeds farm and they just happened to have a batch of silkie babies ready to go! Well we didn't take much persuading, even though they were much too expensive (worked out about $140 for 10) we just couldn't resist - we're down to 9 now but they are towering over the jap, not sure if they are standards or if they just seem that way because of the tiny jap!

They are looking really good though, only a few more months and hopefully we can discover which are girls and which are boys, one of them I'm absolutely convinced is male, have been since the day we got them at 2 weeks old!
