Hey everyone. My name is Dave and I live in Southern New Jersey. Been out of touch for a while.
This has always been one of my favorite sites on the web. Anyway, I had a flock of 30 until last Summer. I had to have a knee replacement that really went bad infected twice. left me incapacitated for almost 6 months. My wife couldn't manage the flock alone so I gave them all to a very good home. It was hard, but I had no choice. Well I'm better know and have 4 new birds. 2 Easter Eggers my wife's favorites, a Road Island Red and a Buff Orphington (had a rooster but he flew the coop.
Well it's good to be back and I ask you all to wish me luck as I start over. :)

Sorry to hear about your health problems, and having to give your birds away. Too sad... Glad you've managed to get on top of the situation now, and are settled in with your new flock!
Here's to starting over! :woot

Glad to hear you are doing much better. As to the rooster flying off, that can be a blessing. Many folks forgo having a rooster because they are usually more trouble than they are worth. If you don't need fertile eggs to hatch or sell, you don't need a rooster.

You girls will thank you for it, and happily lay just as many eggs without one though non-fertile.
