G'day and Welcome, Paige...sorry for your losses, Paige and Hybridchucks...we don't have minks here, but have horrid foxes...one took our girl, recently  :(
Minks are the worst! They are tiny sly little things that can get into even the smallest of cracks. And sorry about your loss. :hitlosing a chicken is sooooo hard.

Thank you, it is...Henny was so gentle and had no-way of defending herself, I thought she would be safe :(...I didn't know minks were in US, until being on this forum...I knew nothing about them...foxes are an introduced species here in Australia, the only other problem we're I am, are snakes and I loathe them...
You live in Australia? So I can see how snakes are a problem for you. Here in the northern US, our chickens eat the snakes.

Yes, I do...21 of the world's 25 most venomous snakes live in Australia... we see mainly, Coastal Taipans, (no.4) and Eastern Browns, (no.2) but, the specie we have had the most 'issues' with our animals is - Diamond Python - they'll strangle anything, if they can get to it...personally, I Loathe snakes - yes, they have their use out in the bush but, not on our property...not near our animals. Earlier this year I had to quickly grab our Afghan, (the one in my avatar), away from an E. brown snake that had climbed onto our second floor verandah - she was trying to kill it and it was trying to bite her - fortunately it hurled itself off the side, down into the garden...good riddance.
