Hello all, I'm new to the site but not new to raising chickens. I raised them when I was young and now that my husband and I have finally settled into a house with a little land I am raising them again. I have 6 chickens and 3 ducks right now. I had 7 but lost one and don't know what happened to her. She was my favorite and jumped on my lap whenever I sat down, she is my avatar My flock is free range all day and go in their coop at night. I cant wait til they start laying eggs which should be any time now if I remember right. I'm glad to be here on this sight so I can share my adventures with my children as I call them.

So now that you are here just pull up a roosting board and stay around for awhile .....

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Sorry you lost your favorite bird. It is never easy to lose them.

But enjoy this new adventure you are on and welcome to our flock!

They are free range and they know they are part of our family because they are always up on the deck when we are out there. They follow my grandchildren around the yard and if they are way out in the yard and they see someone come out the door they all run up to the house afraid they might miss something. I love watching them frolicking in the yard it is truly a great way to let go of stress.
