I’ve made a new account, since it’s been a full 10 years since I’ve had backyard chickens! I set them up for my parents in 2008, and helped care for them until I moved away in 2011. My parents ended up rehoming those hens, and Ive gone on to have kids and a home of my own. We are finally ready to add a flock out back!
We’ll be getting 4 baby chicks in late April, 2 orpingtons and 2 Easter eggers. I’m mostly looking forward to the fresh eggs, easy compost, and a little aspect of farm life for my city suburbs kids.
We also have a large backyard garden, a collection of fruit trees, and have been enjoying hiking and foraging. Super excited to be back on these forums!
