Backyard Brahmas!!

They have fake eggs already (because they lay everywhere BUT in their lovely nest boxes)...currently behind the trash can where the food is! Do you think that the fact that I do not light or heat my coop and live in an area where we have a very cold winter might be part of it?

I don't think your weather or light/heat in the coop make the difference. I think that they just need some time, or maybe it isn't in their makeup to go broody. I don't remember how old they are, but you might give them some time. Or, pick up a silkie or two (I prefer the mixes, I just can't look at a pure silkie without laughing).

I've got 2 light Brahamas. They are very vocal girls, much more vocal than my other hens. Here they are a biddies and then at 4 months old. They love to eat!

Love the pics. They look awfully curious about that old Christmas tree!

Excellent. I figured if I asked the question enough times SOMEONE would tell me I needed a silkie! Haha! Just kidding. My girls range in age from 1-7 years so I think it may well be in their makeup. Who knows...
