Backyard Brahmas!!

well I am thoroughly in love with my brahma's while they werent the cuddilest chicks they have turned into sweet handlable chicks so far........right there to get some cuddles nd pets soon as I show up...........and lookis like because my groundis so heavily sand isnt an issue with wet and feathered feet so far....... very happy with them
I am too! I got mine with a couple Easter Eggers which are reported to be sweet and docile birds...HA. My Brahmas (rooster and pullet) are so sweet, and easy to handle. The cockerel does come peck me lightly when I am handling the pullet but they are so easy going. The Easter Eggers on the other hand, completely berserk basket cases.

New Moarch- wow those tail feathers and saddles are coming in. I see lots of pointy feathers..and those itty bitty waddles. Awww... teenagers. LOL

Mine is still confusing me, but about 10 days behind yours if I remember correctly.

Dark Brahmas a couple of days old

Same girls at 5 weeks old today...Do we still look like girls to you guys?
They were then and still are quite the range of darkness. One is almost silvery and one quite dark. Hope they are all girls.

Thank you....

I didn't see if anyone answered you. They look like pullets to me. The males are very dark from the minute they start getting any chest and back feathers in....although, I do have one that has a lot (and I mean a lot) of white on his chest but his black is striking black as well. So, my educated guess (without seeing them in person) is that you have three pullets.

Oh I was positive about him at least 2 weeks ago. He is a mess but the funny part is the big girls must know he is the threat, they are all MUCH more ornery with him than the little girls. Though he is a bit more bold than them so that may have something to do with it. The head hen HATES him.

Me, too, mainly because of how the black runs solidly down into the back area. I had a Lt. Brahma cockerel and a pullet (male was an Ideal Poultry sexing mistake) and his coloring was exactly that way. Sweet boy, though.
Oh yeah there is no doubting it now just look at the pics I posted yesterday lol. Just after I posted that his red started showing a lot.
He really is the sweetest thing though. He is already protective over the little Brahma pullet but is so sweet with us people so far.

Sorry, I didn't see those! I think my New Posts banner at the bottom went way back and I didn't realize you had new pics up. He's really handsome. The one I had was super sweet. I want more in the future and, depending on my rooster situation at the time, I may try keeping a Brahma rooster then.

He is hopefully going to work out to be a quiet good rooster cause we adore him. He is just sweet enough with just enough attitude I think he will be great. If the big girls get ornery with him he backs down but if they get ornery with the little girls he stands up even though you can tell he is scared stiff lol.

Aw, sounds like a keeper! Post pics when he's a big guy. Would like to see how he turns out.
