I'm glad you mentioned that "grumpy look". SD Bird Lady - I wasn't sure what you were referring to when the Lights and Buffs were little, but now it's very plain to see. Don't know how I missed it before!

I do love that "I hate you look" they seem to always have. Nice birds so far. I am really enjoying having them.
The Dark "Cinders" does have a bit of a mean streak at times. She likes to take a nip at me now and then. Nothing serious but combined with the look it can make one say "What the heck did I do to YOU?".

I think it's their "beetle brow" that makes them look either grumpy or sad depending.

Thank you. She got it because she is a fiery one. Very quick to try new things and well she has a temper lol.

Any guesses on whether this fluffy butt needs a male or female name? 9 weeks old today. I don't think I see any hackle feathers, but the come throws me off. I read that 3 row mean cockrel, and single row is pullet... There is a prominent single row, but maybe tiny little rows on either side? The lady I bought the eggs from had wyandottes, light brahma, and black sex links so there could be a little bit of mix in there to throw things off?

Man that is a tough one to guess at. I think female for now at least. There IS a lot of red showing BUT the tail carriage and overall look to me seems female.

That you get the gender you are hoping for with that one.

This one has been making me change my mind daily! It's pretty friendly and my hubby carries it around, so I think it is staying regardless, lol.

I am glad you can keep it if it turns out to be a male. I am not allowed males where I am so would be totally bummed to have a friendly one and have to give it up.
