Backyard cattle???????

My DW and I are thinking about buying 1 calf, raising it up to 5 to 9 hundred pounds and having it butchered. Has any one here done this? I got about a Bazillion questions. Not really but I do have a few.
Whats a good weight for some real good tender beef?
How much fenced area do I need for 1 calf?
What is a good price for a calf? Lets say an Angus.
