The photos above are of my babies and our chickens getting out and exploring what will be their new run!
We just moved from the suburbs where we had our first flock on 1/5th of an acre to our rural heaven with over an acre. Our last flock dwindled quickly due to not being allowed Roos (4 of 6 chicks turned out male) and then we had a very sad moment when we realized our dog happens to love birds. (To eat) now that we've moved out here we've just started a brand new flock with 6 babies hatched at Easter. We have a barred rock, EE, Delaware, lavender Orpington, RIR, and a Dominique. We also had a golden lace but unfortunately it never made it out of the brooder.
Right now they are living in our grow out and we are working on making them a nice big run, since we have a hawk that likes to come around for breakfast lunch and dinner.!
I hope to add more to our little flock in the future, but that may take a little convincing for my hubby. I've got twin three year olds who seem to share my love for these awesome backyard pets so it may be easier than I think!
One day we plan on making this in to a mini farm so we may add chickens, goats and mini donkeys in the future!
