You can also post pictures of your Barred rock at "what gender or breed is this." It helps to have a photo straight on showing comb development, and a standing profile view of the bird to check for other gender features. Barred rock male generally have wider white barring, and gray bars rather than dark black like a hen.
 
Hey guys I have raise some standard breeds when I was 12 and it did very poor on have baby chicks. Ten years from now I have raise bantam breeds and my most interesting are Mille Fleur D'uccles. Now just trying to get some different color of d'uccles for examples; porcelain, gold neck, white, and self blue/lavender.
