Southern Maine
My husband and I live in Southern Maine. We currently have 6 black australorp chicks that are 3 weeks old and have 4 buff orpingtons scheduled to arrive as newly hatched chicks in late April. This is our first time raising chickens, and we're having a blast so far. We're looking to feed them organic feed and free range them on days we are home. We're currently in the process of building a coop and fencing in an area for a large run (for days we work). I'm excited to share photos and get feedback from this site!

! Great to have you here! You sound like an excited chicken raiser! Good luck to you and have fun!

Hello from Oregon & welcome to BYC :) I let mine out to free range on most days - weather pending lol. They love to walk around, eat bugs & sun themselves

Best of luck & hope you post pics.

Thanks! I'm sure I'll be posting plenty of pictures of them! They're just starting to get to the dinosaur stage now...haha. I was at the store today and they had just received a large shipment of day old chicks. I had to practiced self-restrain! I forgot how little mine were just three weeks ago! They're a blast though. Today I moved them from their smaller brooding box to a larger box (from a stove we recently purchased). We're still weaning them from the heat too so it took some adjusting to get the right temp on the new box. They're so much fun tough. My only regret is that we didn't get them sooner!
