Backyard Silkie roo?

I have ducks and am interested in getting silkie chickens as well. I'm wanting a roo because I was going to sell them and use them for meat as well as eggs. How loud are the roos? My house backs up to a horse farm where they have a rooster so I'm not completely urban but I do have close neighbors..

Did you know that silkie chickens have black meat? They are small, and their flesh is black, unlike the chickens that you buy at the grocery store. I believe they are an Asian delicacy. Are you sure you want them for food?

Yes, I have read up on them. Some people believe they are healthier than other chickens.

I just love silkies.....The roosters do crow, and they can be loud, but not as loud a some of the large fowl roosters. I got to see some actual silkie meat and I was so surprised at the color! I have never tasted their meat.

I had a beautiful silkie hen and she was very broody and an excellent mother. I bet you will do well with them.

It looks like it will be difficult to find them so I may be stuck ordering them in =) My local feed store is really good thouhg.

We used to have one and he was very quiet, did not bother the neighbors at all. He got sick and died suddenly, but he was a great chicken! Good luck!
