My chicken has black lumbs on her nose and it started with clear liquid coming out of her nose.
Now both her nostrils are blocked. When i looked at the lumbs i pressed in one of them and the crusty outside broke open . There came a little bit of blood out. Im not new with chickens. But i have never seen anything like this. I suspect its wet pox but im not sure.
Her mouth is full of those 'cheesy' looking plaques. There is also a disgusting smell coming from the plaques. What should i do??

Any help would be appreciated. :thumbsup
(sorry if my english is bad, im from the Netherlands)

Looks like Fowl Pox, mosquito carried virus. The 'dry' form should resolve on it's own. I believe antibiotics are NOT advisable. It is transmissible bird to bird as well.

Good idea to check inside the mouth to see if there are any 'cheesy' looking plaques, 'wet' form which is more serious.

Sorry that your chicken has what looks like fowl pox. Fowl pox usually break out on areas that don't have feathers -- usually they show up on the comb. It is alarming to the chicken owner.

This summer, I had one with a pox on the beak, and it was really alarming. Looked a lot like the one you have there. It took a very very very long time to fall off. Now this chicken will be immune to ever getting that specific type of pox again. As biophiliac said, dry pox is pretty harmless but wet pox is much more serious.

It will take a long time if your chicken is like mine was, but eventually it will resume looking like a normal chicken if it is dry pox. You just have to be very patient. Meanwhile, you could put something on the pox such as Vetericyn and make sure that your chicken has the best nutrition you can provide. Maybe even check into some chicken vitamins like 'rooster booster' or some such at your feed store.

Good luck with your bird.
ETA, this summer was the first time I had seen fowl pox on a chicken's beak exclusively.

:goodpost:
ETA if you just google 'fowl pox' you will find useful links. A vaccine is available but not often used in small flocks I think..:D

Roosterguy6 -- wow -- have to say your English is so much better than anyone I know's Dutch... (except of course for native speakers)--- My work took me to Amsterdam. Your country is beautiful. Someone in the Netherlands made 'the chicken calculator' -- he's an amazing guy and knows so much about chickens and chicken genetics.

If you go to the very last page ---
you can see Henk Meijers and his amazing animals and plants.

He is one of my chicken-raising heros. To read the Dutch, I would cut and paste and put into Google translate and change it to English.

Back to the topic at hand. My little cockerel above is completely healed. Hope that happens to your chicken too. His beak has a very slight distortion....if you would like I will try to get a photo. Those pictures were taken in August, and the pox started a bit before and just kept growing and growing and growing. I thought it was a tumor or something. I didn't treat it with anything, eventually it fell off.
