This week has been, umm...challenging, yeah. Assumed the weekend would have to be better, how could it not? Boy was I wrong! But the tipping point was my chicken situation today.
Just got a box with Barnevelder eggs I had been wanting so much delivered today...4 of the 12 eggs were crushed as well as my heart; seller did not included an extra or two just in case of this happening. Still waiting to hear back from the seller. Just went out to start chores and I am missing 2 BCM's and 2 Wellies, all about 3 months old and in the same pen...can't find anyway they got out, can't find them and can't find any feathers or struggle. The BCM's came from really good breeding and they were the best I have hatched out so far, I don't have the heart to tell the person I got them from and then beg to be able to get a few more eggs once funds permit. The sweet little BCM that had the broken leg that we have tried so hard to help...I have to cull her this evening; no bands, bandaids, splints, taping etc we have tried has worked. I am REALLY trying to look for a bright side here, my half full glass perspective if kinda on the half empty side today. Hope I did not offend anyone, just needed to vent. Thanks for letting me rant a bit.
