Just wanted to share the cute surprise we got today (day 19)!
This is my first real hatch. A dozen eggs from my flock with 10 making it to lockdown yesterday.
Rooster is an Alchemist Farm BCM. The eggs are:
- 5 BCM x BCM (brother to sisters)
- 3 BCM x Alchemist moss egger
- 2 BCM x random easter egger
Kebonnixs incubator
The EE cross was the first one out! There were no signs, pips, cheeps, or rocking in the morning. By 11, I realized I heard cheeping and totally thought it was cheeping in shell. Lo and behold we find a wet chick half out of the shell!!
I’m guessing maybe things were running hot since we had a heat wave during incubation.
The humidity has spiked since the chickie came out, up to 80% with some condensation where the eggs are closest to the wall. A little worried about that, but not much we can do about it at this stage.
Should I expect more to come out tomorrow? Or is it normal to have one early bird and the rest incubate on a more normal schedule?
