i got up this morning to check on my broody hen (this is around the time she gets up to eat and pop) and i was very alarmed to see an egg attached to her bottom. i went up to her and removed it and noticed it was just the shell. i went over to look in her nesting box and her other remaining eggs are covered in egg yolk and feathers i’m not sure what to do. i didn’t want to move the eggs let alone wash them off but will this affect the other chicks from developing ? today is day 13 from when she first went broody. i was going to snap a picture but she went back to sitting on them. does anyone have any ideas as to what to do??

Clean the box up as best you can. Don’t rub the eggs but you can wrap and press a paper towel on them to remove any large amounts of residue.

the broody hen will rub them with her skin and the oils of her skin will clean them off. :)
