Bad Egg in Incubator

Hey all, quick question here - I’ve got a batch of home laid quail eggs in the incubator, but came home to a really funky smell coming from them. They’re due for lockdown tomorrow, so I just candled all of them and got rid of the ones that seem infertile, including one that I think was the smelly culprit (it was cracked, I must have missed that when I put it in 2 weeks ago). Nearly half were infertile, but my laying quails are nearly a year old, so I’m guessing this might be normal for declining fertility. ANyway, my question is - should I mist the remaining eggs with anti-bacterial spray now that the bad egg has been removed? Just to safeguard them from bad bacteria before lockdown?

It still smells pretty bad in there...... but I’m sure I’ve got the bad egg out.... I feel like I can’t take them all out and give the entire thing a good wash at this stage, without really upsetting the apple cart regarding consistent temp and humidity

Ive had popped eggs that started to smell, I removed them and cleaned under and around as best as I could and then did a thorough clean after they hatched and were removed, but I had a staggered hatch, and I just moved the remaining trays out of the way and bleached the area of the break.

Thanks - I did much the same, but on a smaller scale and with a dilute listerine mix in a spray mister. I was worried it might have harmed the remaining eggs, which copped some of the mist - but must have been ok, cos I just got home from nightshift and.... its beginning! My first hatch of home growns!

I really wasn’t expecting the little guys until sometime tomorrow, so now I’m madly setting up the brooder and too excited to sleep; I can’t stop watching and waiting for more to emerge!

Hard to clean that smell and do not take them out till good and dry ..

Amazingly, the smell really was gone within about 3hrs after I removed the bad egg and other infertiles and did the listerine mist. I was surprised, gotta say; it was a truly AWFUL smell, I really thought they were all rotten at first
