Bad egg?

I have 8 eggs in the bator now that look great. I see air sacs and movement in them all. Then I have one egg I'm not so sure about. I've been watching it for a few days and I don't see any air sac or growth. I see a dark blob that moves arourd like it's not attached. Also when I pick it up its lighter then the others.

Should I removed this one? I have a feeling that I should.

Sounds possible that it was an embryo that expired or even an inferile egg. What stage are you in the incubation? Use your nose and keep smelling until you decide you are confident that it's not growing and need to remove it. If you smell anything bad, remove it ASAP.

I'm on day 11. I've been wondering about this egg since day 7. It just didn't look like the others.

Your gut instinct is probaby correct. What you may find if you remove it and open it is an embryo that started to develop and just quit early on. I think, as hard as it is sometimes, we learn so much by just taking a deep breath and opening up each egg that doesn't make it. If you don't smell anything bad, you could leave it in a couple more days or until next candling then remove it because by then, the differences will be very apparent if it's dead. If you're pretty sure, you could go ahead now. It's your call.

O.K. I took a deep breath and cracked it open. There was no development there. Looks like it started but died early on. One of the partridge eggs. I have 2 more of them so come on guys and make it.

Thanks for the advice. I kind of knew the egg was bad but needed someone else to agree with me.

On the other hand I still have 8 of twelve going strong.

I would take it out and open it

this is my first time incubating and all the eggs I candled that I felt like weren't developing really weren't and when I opened them it helped me feel more confident of my candling abilities there were a few eggs that I wasn't sure about (two ) and I have left them in for now

and yeah on the high success rate. I"m almost down to 50% and i'm only on day 11 or 12
