I have three Muscovy ducks. I bought the when they were approx 1 year old. One I feel has a problem judging distance in close situations. It is not hampering her life style. She walks everywhere. I rarely see her fly and when I do her landings are a bit bumpy. When she jumps off a perch she seams to have a hard time judging the short distance.
I am just curious if any one has experienced this besides me.

I haven't experienced the exact problem. However, I have noticed thst my ducks often misjudge where their water tubs are and initially put their bills down outside not inside their water tubs. This is because, like us, ducks need to use images from both eyes to judge distance. But unlike us, their eyes are on the side of the head. Looking at something far away, they can see from both eyes but up close they only see their water tub with one eye.

I suspect your female is only getting images from one eye if she cannot judge distances up close

I have a Muscovy female who is blind in one eye from a hawk. She doesn’t have good distance judgement or close and is constantly moving her head to see out of her good eye. But she does great out foraging with everyone. They adjust amazingly well.

Yes. I agree.
