Bad hatchery luck

I never have any luck with hatcheries. All the big hatcheries (Murray Mcmurray, Cackle, Ideal Poultry, Meyer, etc.) are all sold out of Black Australorps for months or have a 15 chick limit. I only want 8 chicks. I have looked at all local breeders and hatcheries and none of them have Black Australorps that are sexed. I want 7 hens, 1 roo. My local feed store sold their last ones yesterday. That was their last shipment. Any suggestions on where to get some? Thanks

Could you order the 15 and then sell/re-home the extras? I bet you would have no problem if you'd get 14 pullets and a roo..I'd think you could easily sell 6-7 pullets--just a thought.
Good luck!

Not sure where you are in TX but we just picked up 4 Black Australorps from Bear Creek Feed Store in Leonard this past Tuesday and I think I heard they have more coming. Might be worth a shot if you're close. (Leonard is 15 minutes south of Bonham and about 15 minutes west of Greenville)

Check out craigslist or even put a shout out on craigslist with what you are looking for.

I had the same issue, I had to buy more from the hatchery then I wanted to keep, I am just going to re-home the pullets that I can't keep.

I would also see if there is anyone on the board or in your area that would want to split an order with you.
