Meet Lady Pennyface. She is an ameraucana/easter egger, about two years old Last fall, all my chickens molted, and then everyone grew their feathers back except this one. She's been like this about 6 months. All winter, I kept waiting for her to either grow some damn feathers or freeze to death. A couple of nights when it got down to 0 degrees Fahrenheit I put a heat lamp in the coop because I felt so bad for her. She has taken to sleeping under the wing of one of her bunkmates. Other than looking terrible, she seems healthy and has continously laid nice eggs, 4 or 5 a week all winter. I know it looks like she's been ridden rough by a rooster, but I haven't had one in about 6 months. (This feather loss is one of the reasons he isn't with us anymore.)

Anyone seen this before? What do you think?

The same. We're moving into warmer weather, so she's officially gone all winter missing most of her feathers. She acts normal and lays fine. She's just... bald. I'm thinking about eating her this fall if she doesn't get it together.

Update: after looking like a Turken for one full year, Lady Pennyface went into another molt, and afterwards grew back her plumage. She looks normal again! I have never had a hen do that before.
