Bad news for bert

This is just a suggestion since I've never had emus, but I've had turkey poults and quail chicks that did something similar to what it sounds like your emu is doing starting around 2-3 weeks old. I was feeding them a 20% chick starter and apparently it wasn't enough because I switched them to a higher protein gamebird starter and the problem corrected itself within a week at most. So is it possible that the baby just isn't getting the right type of feed? Or maybe he's not getting enough nutrients from the feed he has?

nope..they were switched from chick starter, to higher protein ratite/emu feed at 2 weeks...plus they get a vitamin supplement and electrolyte additive in their water as well.

So sorry.

These little guys are so easy to love when they are so cute and little. I feel bad for the children but I am glad they have other emus to love. I suppose it is one of life's lesson but certainly a difficult one.

Blessings.
