Bad Roo

Cull him, split him in half, roll in seasoned flour, dip in milk, roll in flour again and fry in bacon fat.

You deserve the above, you really do

And the rest of your quail will thank you!

I had to cull a nasty little roo who split the face of my nice BIG roo right open. I only found the culpret after I had set two batches of eggs and you can spot his offspring at a glance, small and aggressive.

They were the first ones I grabed when bringing quail in for dinner the other night and you cant imagine the difference in the grower flock. SO MUCH CALMER and more fun to watch.

So yeh, go ahead adn treat yourself

There's always going to be a squabble here & there....they're going to decide who's boss. When I notice serious bullying going on...I run a checklist:

Do I have enough hiding places (leafy branches, corn stalks, etc.)?
Are there enough feeders & waterers?
Is it hot? When it's really hot...tempers flare & they get aggressive with each other.
Are we overcrowded?

If I answer yes to any of these questions....I then fix the problem.

If you're ok on all of this, you may just have an overly aggressive roo. I would cull quickly before he seriously injures or kills another bird.
