This is my first time hatching eggs and I have 14 bobwhite eggs in a homemade still air incubator, it was chilly this morning so I temporarily put a blanket on the incubator to quickly heat it up. It was on for no more than 20 mins but when i took it off to my horror the temperature read 111 degrees Fahrenheit. Even though it was a really short time, im terrified that it killed the eggs. What are the chances of this? How can i check to make sure they are still alive?

Oh my.

The only thing you can do is candle to look for movement.

Please don't ever put a blanket on your incubator again.
Is your incubator not holding steady temperatures?
I'm not understanding why you would try to raise the temperature real quick...and I would like to understand.

Generally it will throughout the day, but i woke up this morning and it was at 95 and i panicked. This is my first time hatching and it was a terrible decision in hindsight.

If it was only at that temp for 20mins, it's not likely to have hurt the embryos. It takes quite awhile for the internal egg temp to rise or lower. As @Kiki said, "don't ever do that again"!

Lesson learned. Thanks for the humility. I out here thinking I was gods gift to animal husbandry.
