So, the turkey poult I bought yesterday was a bit depressed. Wasn't interacting with the older chicken chicks I put it with. So, I went back today to get it a buddy. I peeked in to see how many polish they had left. Just a few. But they did have a couple of very tiny, not quite well looking chicks in the mix. I ended up taking them and have them in a brooder. They just have really bad pasty butt. Hopefully they'll pull through. Don't know what they are, but they are extremely small. Very cute. The turkey poult jumped right up when it heard the other one peeping and they immediately snuggled up with each other. Glad I went back but I may forbid myself from going back!
So are ya'll's TSC's making you purchase ducklings in minimum quantities of 6???????
I know in Ohio, the Dept of Ag requires chicks to be purchased in quantities of 6, but usually with ducklings you only have to buy 2....our local TSC's are requiring ducks to be purchased in lots of 6, and when we asked if that was a state law, they said no, they are just partnering in with a specific group that's out to protect animals
Then they said that it was to deter people from purchasing them as novelty pets, which I understand with Easter and all, but if they want to deter them as novelty pets, don't get them in at Easter DUH.
My DH says it's doing more harm then good, because people are now buying the 6, and then turning loose or tossing out the ones they don't want!
