I like my wild birds as much as my domestic ones, but I was truly baffled this morning. I had a small yellow bird repeatedly pecking at the window and couldn’t figure out why. It wasn’t attacking its reflection and wasn’t a collision victim, but it was determined in its business. Finally narrowed it to species: female orchard oriole, but why the window obsession? Then I saw what it was pecking at! I have some butterfly decals to help prevent collision but mostly because they are pretty, she thought they were real and was trying to nab one! Never a dull moment in the avian world!
