bagels and loks

Well this morning it was pancakes. I opened up the back door and 16 little bodies came hurtling over. Some of the chickens just run, others will "fly"... Some are quiet and some are loud. I love listening to my white leghorn because of all my hens, her growls and screeches are the most distinctive.

such a funny story, I can almost see it! They sure do get used to being "spoiled", don't they? I have 18 golden campines in their own separate coop and pens; (we have peafowl, yellow golden pheasants, a handful of guineas and about 25 silkies-they all have their own coops and pens). Anyway, my campines do the same to me, it's like they expect a real nice treat when they hear or see me coming. If they are already up on their roost pole and see me open the door, they will fly down and attempt to land on my shoulder or arm. Sometimes they miss, and knock my hat off if I am wearing one!

They are the most curious breed of chickens that I have ever had and if I go into their coop and decide to sit and watch them for awhile, they will mill about where I am and some of them will actually fly up and land in my lap and let me pat them.

Hahaha!!!!Love the image of them running around the yard after the prize lox!!! Mine did that when one got hold of a piece of salami!!! They are not very dainty when it comes to refreshments.
