Bags of mulch under the coop?

Maybe if you decide to open some of the bags, you could put down a large tarp first, dump the mulch on top of it and drag that away in the spring? That's how I move used "stuff" from my goat and sheep pens.

They don't really need heat. They're wearing built-in down parkas.

If you want to block it from the chickens, go for it.
But don't do it by stuffing plastic bags full of mulch under there.
They will get nasty and likely house rodents.

All the mice try to live in my 150 year old attic, . My cat and any cats in the barn across the street would likely kill any mice that tried to live under the coop.
