Bait for coons

When using cage traps I usually put some on the trigger where they cant reach it.

Canned pink salmon and sardines work the best for me

If you have cats then sweet smelling stiff. I use a peppermint, honey, vanilla mix. Dip cotton ball in it and drop it into trap.

take a can of sardeans poke holes with a ice pick in it, take a piece wire, wire threw one of the holes wire to cage back, up high! (so can't steal bait) next moring go see your coon!! NOW WHAT???? lead tablet here!!!!! tom!!!

I've heard Coons LOVE Banana but I'm afraid to use it. My old dog Blackie LOVES banana and she'd be trying to get into the trap like crazy. All I have to do is borrow my hunting friend's trap again to see if I could catch me a nice coonskin hat.

When I was younger I trapped for many years and caught countless #'s of coons. the best attractant I found was liquid anise found in the grocery store. It smells very sweet and should not attract cats. Try it and I'm sure you will find it works like magic.

when I am trapping in neighborhoods for folks I use molasses good coon and grey fox bait and no cats in 30+ years of trapping

a honey bun has never failed... they can smell it from a good distance and it's nice and sweet
