My Penciled Runner is growing up and getting around a lot better. She still has a long way to go. I have her legs hobbled with vet wrap, but her balance seems to be off. She is eating well and I give her water with vitamins and apple cider vinegar in it every day. Does anyone know what causes the balance problem and how long should I keep the vet wrap on her legs? I should say she had the balance problem before wrapping her legs.

Could her ears be stopped up? That may cause her equilibrium to be off, rather than her legs....I would ask a vet...

I did take her to a vet and she was on antibiotics for a respiratory problem. She seems to be feeling fine.... Just the walking thing. I haven't been letting her swim, but I will fill the bathtub up and put her in and try that. I have to make sure it is completely full or she will walk on that slippery bottom.

Right.

Tia, you are so good to your ducks!!!

I love my ducks... just wish I knew what would help them sometimes. This little runner duck is the sweetest little duck. I pick her up and she snuggles right up against my neck. She hasn't got her adult voice yet (I don't know why I think she is a girl) and she has such a sweet little voice almost like a whistle.

Im going threw the same thing with my duck just with the bumble foot thing. giving me a hard time. And its nice that she loves you like that. My ducks dislike people unless we have food lol. still working on that. I do have to say though it would be interesting if she turns out to be a he xD I hope the best for you, i know how flustering it can become.

Yes it takes a lot of effort, but you just want them to have a normal life and be able to mingle with the other ducks. I don't know what else you do but keep on trying.

now that it seems your hard part is over, now its time for healing. My runners lump is super pink now and the scab is depressed inwards rather then pushed out and small. So im hopeing this weekend she can finally be back outside!
