Bald Eagles?

I had a bald eagle pick up,and luckily drop, one of my guineas last fall. There is a nest up the road-first choice so far is fish but they do eye the chickens just like hawks. I keep an air horn handy since that is about all you can do to an eagle.

Laura, we live just down the road from you a bit, between Monroe and Duvall, right up off the Snoqualmie Valley. The Snoqualmie River is just down below us, and I see the Eagles all the time, especially this time of year. We have seen them circling above on thermals in the summer, but have never had one attack our birds yet...knock on wood. Hawks yes, but not the Eagles. They are amazing to watch. Usually the kids will spot them circling above if they are out playing, and they just make themselves known out in the open and the birds will usually move on.

We have a resident pair of golden eagles on the property and the crows give them no peace.
My chickens have learned to pay attention to the crows. Certain noises from the crows (when they are chasing the eagles) and all my chickens run for cover.

I live in alaska where the bald eagle is by far the most common bird of prey. they crowd around dumpsters with the ravens, scavenging for food. i've witnessed them carry of my chickens many times before.
