bald headed chicks

I am feeding them choice grain. I just recently weaned them off chick starter and they are on scratch and lay mash. I also feed them BSFL and meal worms, but not as much now since my bins are not producing as much, and the mice cleaned out my meal worms. Do you think they need more protein?

I think that they DEFINITELY need more protein. Scratch should be given as a treat-it'll through the nutrients they're getting all out of whack, and they're probably not eating as much of the layer feed as they would without scratch. Can you get grower feed or all flock for them? That will give them the proper amount of protein.

This is not a good diet for them. They need grower of flock raiser food right now. Don't feed them scratch or dried meal worms, those both have too much fat in them. Also limit fruits and veggies to once a week, having those as a main part of their diet is not good for them. Grower or flock raiser is the best food for them, and it will provide a balanced diet without needing any other supplements.

Okay, they are back on chick starter. I only give them meal worms as a treat but they get live ones, not dried, I don't know that it matters.
thank you for your help.

I know that mealworms have some fat in them but they have 53% protein, chick starter has only 20%.
