My rooster has been picked clean by the hens. He has a few feathers growing back but winter is here and I'm concerned at night he will freeze. Should I risk letting him sleep In the coop with the hens? Will he freeze out in the cold? Gets down into the 40's.

Try feeding nutrena feather fixer. I have found it works wonders for growing feathers back.

Why doesn't he roost with hens At night? They will keep him warm =) try nustock. Do they pick at him because he's new, old, young or weak/sick?

Had no idea they sold something to regrow the feathers. Awesome thanks!

The rooster has always stayed outside and kept watch. They pick at him, I think, because we have 2 and he is the smaller one. They don't pick at the big rooster. I just don't want him attacking the hens at night to mate and not letting them sleep.

They don't do much mating in the dark.. Unless u have a light in there. Maybe put up a second perch/roost so he can have a space inside/up where there isn't a dominant rooster already perched, who nows one of the lower hens might join him and boost his ego =) good luck
