My 3 week old duckling who currently lives in the house is gradually losing her down, but much slower than her 4 week old siblings who are outside. Shes the one we had to rescue from her shell, and while she is very active and eating, she is still very small.
What worries me is the tops of her wings are becoming bald. I’m wondering if she’s over grooming or feather plucking because of loneliness or boredom. I’m hoping that’s it’s not some sort of health problem. She eats Purina crumbles, mealworms and chopped lettuce, as do the others.
Anyone have ideas? Thank you!!!!

Totally normal don't worry
But if she is alone, she is undeniably lonely. Ducks have to have companions, they absolutely can't be solitary

Thanks! Slowly looking better.
I would love for her to go outside with the 2 bigger ducklings, Mom, Dad and Auntie, but I’ve seen the way the adults treat other ducklings and they can be pretty vicious when it comes to food or their kiddie pool.
Our plan is to build a separate pen for the adults and ducklings, but that takes some time unless I buy a kit at Tractor Supply. My husband built their current shed and 20 ft covered run 4 years ago
and it’s been plenty big for 3 Call ducks.
Guess I thought they’d all just get along.
So, I have a feeling I’ll be having lots of questions in the future!
I really appreciate being able to connect with knowledgeable duck owners!!!
