BAMA Mottled Orp update

Well, now yours may have more white chick down to start with. Mine are project and don't have the same type mottling gene as your already developed cochins have.

Uh-oh, there's more than one mottling gene? Sooooo much to learn.

These cochins won't be baby chicks -- I'm not sure, but I think they're around 6 weeks old or in that vicinity. I'd like to know what I'm looking at. But apologies for hijacking the thread!

No problem. The gene I have may be erminette like a spangled and I believe they are in the same family as Mottled. I call mine the BAMA gene till I get it sorted out. Trying to get it to breed true for me. Like I said it is a project at this point. There are others working also to make the Mottled Orps here in the US.

Hey Christina, Thanks for the compiments. Yes, I am going to try breeding sibling to sibling and see what happens and then to father. I would think with these being produced from Mother to Son line breeding if I breed the two sibling maybe all chicks will come out BAMA.
