Okay, this came from a guy who's parents raised chickens for meat and eggs. They butchered chickens by the hundreds every year.

He said to go to the grocery store, ask them for the stalk that bananas come on, and then just set them around in your coop. It would help keep the mites off.

????

anyone heard of this? I have a 17 month old, and he eats EVERYTHING, so I am trying to keep as many poisens away from him as possible. Plus, with older kids they dont always wash their hands like they should...

I have no idea, but many on here use DE as a preventive, and it is safe to eat for chickens and people.

On the FAQ page there are links to threads about DE, if you are not familiar.

Thank you.

I had thought about that, but didnt know how it reacted to water, I do have issues right now with damp ground. or if it was real loose and would get dusty.

Plus this would kinda be dual purpose. Could use it as a perch if it was thick enough
