Banned?

I was cleaning out my inbox today and noticed that I had received two messages from someone and under the person's name it said BANNED. How does that happen? What could have been done to make someone banned?

By being nasty and not nice.

Also, by doing the same thing over and over again even after the multiple corrections and warnings from the Mods.

Okay...you've answered my question. It seems like shooting oneself in the foot though! It doesn't make sense to me that someone would repeat behavior that was prohibited.
