bannies

They're "Bantams" not bannies.

Bantams, like Large Fowl or "Standard" chickens, will have one rooster service any number of hens, or even just one. They'll do what they can. Often Bantams or even Large Fowl are sold in pairs for breeding and show qualities.

just wanted to also add a big friendly welcome to BYC!!

(I've heard chickens called bannies, banties, biddies here in Tx so no worries here)

my grandma always called them bannies too! For some reason I inherited her love for them...
My little stud muffin is a white old english rooster and he loves the ladies.. All sizes big and small. It is funny to see him flirt with them doing the wing dragging dance and calling them over for a supposed treat... The big hens probably secretly laugh at him

anyway welcome to the forum and call them whatever you like.....

A Bantam Rooster will service as many hens as possibile.
But to ensure fertility most breeders only allow a certain number of hens with a rooster.
If the Bantam Rooster is older than 2 years (depending on breed) hes' fertility rates will start to decline.
