So I got suckered into taking a bunch of bantams from TSC. I got an amazing deal so couldn't help it. Figure any we don't want, or any excess we'll sell when they get a bit bigger. BUT...I don't know what most of them are.

We got 1 black silkie. I told them to keep all the others because we already have a bunch of silkie chicks.

So any ideas on these guys? I posted what I think some of them are! None have 5 toes. I know that some may be the same breed, but just different colors.

Yeah, you got suckered! LOL! They sure are cute though!

Lots of colourful bantams!

1, 10, 13 are D’Uccles. 1 and 10 are Mille Fleur and 13 is either white or porcelain.

2, 5, 8, 14 are Cochins. 2 and 5 not yet sure of colour, could be silver laced. 8 is golden laced. Yes 14 is barred.

3 is an Easter egger, 16 looks like it could be too.

4 and 11 look like Japanese, a black and 11 a black tailed buff

6, 7, 12, 15, 18 look like Old English game. Dutch have slate legs. 6 looks like it could be black breasted red. 7 like a golden campine pattern, 12 and 18 might be splash. 15 no idea, some red variety.

9 yes a Golden Sebright

17 is a Rhode Island Red

19 is a Golden laced Polish, I wonder if it got placed in the wrong bin because I don’t know of any major hatcheries that sell them in bantam size.

If 7 does turn out to be Golden campine patterned then these chicks were supplied to TSC by Ideal Poultry as they created them and the only hatchery that carries them. However that chick doesn’t look like it is doing too well? Maybe it just looks sleepy in the picture.

Thanks so much Bantams!

#7 is ok, I think it's just the picture. He was actually one of the hardest to get a picture of because he kept moving all over the place!

We actually ended up with 3 of the Golden Laced Polish. It'll be interesting to see if they end up being standard birds! Then at a penny a piece they'd be even more of a steal.

We actually have a few more types that I didn't get pictures of before they got put into the brooder. Or I noticed the differences between them and ones I took pictures of. For instance we have the white clean legged ones with 3 different leg colors (green which I assume are easter eggers, yellow, and pink?). We also have a black chick with black legs but definitely not a silkie. After looking maybe a Sumatra or Black D'anver? I'm excited to see how all of these littles grow and to be sure of exactly what we have. There are quite a few of the ones I asked if they were OEGB or Dutch. I didn't take a look at all of their legs though so I'm not sure if it's all one variety or not.

Wow you got a great deal for them! If the black one is a D'anver it should have muffs. Dang, NH is only about 6 hours from me, I'd go there and grab a bunch of chicks if it weren't for the international health papers requirements...I will likely order from Ideal Poultry since they do supply health papers for $100, once I move to an acreage in hopefully 5 years or less.

Glad #7 is doing ok!

I'll have to take a better look at my little black one to see if there's muffs. I would be excited for a d'anver. We lost ours this winter to a weasel and she was the sweetest thing.

VTChicken glad it was helpful to see! Which NH TSC did you get yours from? We're right on the VT border.
Pitty Walpole NH...just across the CT river from me.

I was going to take more than the 8 we got but my daughter reminded me that I was “sneaking” them in because I didn’t let my ‘partner in crime’ know I was bringing them home so best to start with 8 and add on from there or I might have to make room in coop for myself before they move in to it. LOL
