My 6 month old BBR Old English Hen has been with us for 4 months. However, I have noticed that her breastbone is oddly distinguished and she has lost a lot of weight and meat on her small figure. She was with another BBR hen and the other one was completely fine. We separated the sick one and gave her electrolytes and more food thinking the other one wasn't letting her eat. But now it's gotten worse. She eats and drinks but my concern is we are gonna lose her. We have no idea what is happening because we feed them 22% protein crumble and we mix in calcium and grit along with a poultry conditioner pellet. And the other 30 something chickens are fine. We have her hydrohen mixer this morning and she is wanting to eat and drink. However I believe it is too far gone for her. Is there anything I am missing or is there anything I could do. Any ideas on the cause of this. Thank you.

You mention she is WANTING to eat/drink. Can she?
What is her crop like - hard, soft, doughy, gassy, does her breath stink?
Have you looked her over for lice/mites?
Photos of your pullet and her poop?
How is she housed?

I would not mix the calcium or grit with the feed. Provide those free choice.
The Poultry Conditioner is probably o.k., but for now, I would try to get her hydrated.
Offer the Hydro Hen plus fresh clean water, see if she will drink for you. Offer her a wet mash of her normal feed after she is drinking.

Has she started laying yet? If she has, when is the last time she laid and egg?
Feel her abdomen for bloat/swelling and check her over for lice/mites.

She can eat and drink but we have been syringeing her water for her. She is eating by herself. She has no energy. She is very pale band weak. She can't lay right either mostly rolling to one side. Her poop is kinda green but watery sometimes but a normal consitensy. Right now she is in a wire cage with a metal bottom and a cushion of bedding. She has no bugs and her abdomen is mostly skin a bones. She hasn't laid an egg I don't think but is she has it is very hot outside as well being in Arizona so most of our chickens have stopped laying. Here is some pictures. Some show the breastbone pooped pit from the stomach. :hit:confused:

Bless her sweet heart:hugs She is wasting away.

The 22% feed that you are feeding that is poultry feed correct?
She does not need the extra calcium added to her feed, eliminate that.

Is there any way you can take some poop samples to your vet for testing?
Has she ever had any respiratory illness?

Sadly, with your description, the rolling to one side and the severe weight loss, I would be inclined to think she is suffering from Marek's. If you happen to lose her, getting a necropsy will tell you what is wrong.

Thank you. We are just gonna make sure she is comfortable for now. Testing is a good idea. Sad to see her go if she does. Thank you again:hit:(:hugs
