Welllll long story but I had a lovely beautiful hen who turned out to be a rooster. He was so good - and I loved him- but when he started to crow, I received complaints from neighbors and knew it was a matter of time before the authorities came knocking. I found a farm for him- they have 40 hens and only 2 roosters so mine will LOVE his new place. So when I went to drop him off, they had a small coop that had these OEGBs- one rooster and 4 hens. He offered me the hens, I took 2. They said that they were fully grown. They feed them cracked corn. The one layed an egg an hour after I got her home! I am feeding them the flock raiser that I had for my rooster but am going to buy the egg layer food as soon as I can. They're nice looking, but not as tame (friendly) and a lot more shy than my little guy was. But that's because I found him as a tiny chick and raised him myself. These girls weren't raised that way. I'm just going to give them time and they'll warm up to me. They love their great big coop that they have all to themselves!
