Hey guys,

I'm still working on planning my coop and everything, but I've also started thinking more deeply about the birds I want to have. Up until now I had basically committed to all standard sizes, but now I'm considering having a/a few bantams instead of all LF.

Where do you guys get your bantams from? The two I'm most interested in are White Cochin Bantams and Bobtail Cochin Bantams. Also saw a photo labeled "Lavender Pekins from Sweden" that is pretty cool. I see Cackle Hatchery has the white cochins, but they have a minimum order of 5 (not even a combination of 5 chicks. Have to buy 5 of any given bantam) and they're not sexed.

Most bantams are Straight Run, but i think 'My Pet Chicken' will sex them for like $10. They may have a minimum order though. I like to order from Ideal Poultry. They don't have a minimum order, but a $30 dollar minimum. So you can mix and match as much as you want.

Ideal Poultry seems to have a pretty good selection. Haven't seen Bobtail Cochins anywhere though. I'm guessing those are more rare/specialized.

They're in Europe I know, but not sure if they've made their way to the USA yet.

Somebody in the southeast has bobtails. I saw some at a show in north GA.
