I just got some Polish, Cochin, and frizzle bantams this morning. The Cochins are little terrors!!! Not just pecking the others, but full on beak grabbing and dragging (even though they’re smaller???). We have a red light already and I’d prefer a lamp since they just shipped. I like to see them for the first few days as well as knowing they might need higher heat. What can I do about the Cochins? They’ll be separated if it continues

Are the frizzled cochins as well? I'm assuming they are but you know what they say about assumptions. Hmmm. I'm not sure about them being bullies because I haven't experienced that before, ever. Who is being picked on?

I am also assuming, but don’t have anything that would confirm. It’s fluffy legged and looks just like a Cochin. It’s picking on EVERYONE, even grabbed a week old large down chick in the face when I moved it while I cleaned up everyone else. The Polish seem to be getting the brunt of it

how big is their area? stress can do that, also boredom, do you have things for them to do?
They literally just arrived from the PO today, so I’m sure they’re stressed. They’re in a pack n play and the two worst are now in a medium dog play pen. They’ve trapped 12 large fowl week old chicks on top of the mama heat pad because they’ve terrorised them in the few minutes they’ve been in there

It was not impressed by our hopping chicks the kids got for Easter, but I’m hoping we’ve found a solution. All three Cochins were separated into the playpen and I haven’t heard any hurt peeping for a while. Tucked them under a mama heating pad and hoping the darkness settles things down 🤞🏼 The Polish and frizzle are peacefully cuddled together, not a peep from them after I took away the Cochins

Poor babies.
I can't believe such a young thing is so mean. Glad to hear you had a way to separate them.
